With great power comes great responsibility, and also disputes, we would say. Riot Games’ League of Legends is a worldwide phenomenon and stirs all kinds of attention, including the bad kind. It even involves porn sites, it seems.
Riot Games just won a dispute against the owner of LeagueofLegends.co (notice the lack of ‘m’ at the end) that used the game’s popularity and user typos to draw visitors to what was in fact a porn site. Imagine your surprise when you wanted to try this great free-to-play MOBA game everyone is talking about and instead you got… breasts and more.
The dispute was filed early August and Riot Games just won the case, apparently giving ownership of the domain LeagueofLegends.co to Riot. The porn page is no longer active.
Last June, Riot Games had another dispute, this time against a scam website that claimed to offer online support for League of Legends.
Since LeagueofLegends.com is among the top 1,500 websites in the world (Alexa ranking), it attracts a lot of scammers, so Riot Games is likely to have their hands full for a long time.
