Blizzard has announced that Project Titan, the highly anticipated and very mysterious MMO from the makers of World of Warcraft, has been canceled, after seven years in development and at least one change in direction. The hugely ambitious game was scrapped because Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime said to Polygon that it “didn’t come together” and “we didn’t find the fun”.
It was a really tough decision to cancel development, but Blizzard decided to focus on World of Warcraft and the recent success of smaller games such as HearthStone: Heroes of Warcraft and Heroes of the Storm, instead of allocating a huge amount of resources to a second MMO.
Little was known about Project Titan, a game that was never officially announced, but rumors from 2013 point to an MMO that revolved around historical myths from the Greeks, Romans and other civilizations, and included time-travel. It was also said it wouldn't be subscription-based and might include product placement, but nothing was confirmed.
