The Russia exclusive Halo Online didn't sit to well with many players, who didn't waste much time trying to create a game launcher titled ‘ElDorito’ – which is a play on the ‘Eldorado’ main executable for Halo Online. What this launcher does is remove the geo-restrictions (meaning that the game could be played anywhere in the world) and eventually unlock some game features.
Obviously, Microsoft wasn't too happy with this and swiftly sent a DMCA notice to GitHub, somewhere along the following lines:
“We have received information that the domain listed above, which appears to be on servers under your control, is offering unlicensed copies of, or is engaged in other unauthorized activities relating to, copyrighted works published by Microsoft. […] The above copyright work(s) [ElDorito] is being made available for copying, through downloading, at the above location without authorization from the copyright owner or exclusive licensee.”
GitHub has already complied and removed the project.
Halo Online is making a lot of waves in a very short time and we should hear a lot more from it. In case you want to know how it looks, you can watch Halo Online's first trailer and gameplay videos.
