Hi-Rez Studios has revealed the mystery game that was teased recently and much to our surprise it isn't the already announced Global Agenda 2 – this game is called Paladins, with the subtitle Champions of the Realm, and is a free-to-play title for PC and current generation consoles scheduled to launch in 2016.
A team-based first person shooter with a fantasy setting, Paladins includes strategy elements and in-match character progression through decks of collectible cards, which augment a character's core set of abilities. Each combatant also has a personal mount.
Paladins has all the foundations of a MOBA such as SMITE also from Hi-Rez, only with bigger maps and a more over-the-top fantasy setting. Comparisons with Team Fortress 2 and the upcoming shooter Overwatch from Blizzard will come naturally, but Hi-Rez Studios is also known for its work on Tribes: Ascend.
