PlanetSide 2 is getting a new continent called Oshur with multiple isles

PlanetSide 2 rarely gets the praise that it deserves. With all the Battle Royale games claiming that 100 players fighting in the same map is a big deal (and most BR games feature way less players than that), PlanetSide 2 smirks and talks about its open-world battles featuring up to 2000 players per continent, on foot and in land or air vehicles. It also proudly holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest first-person shooter battle, with over 1158 players pitching in.

Now, Daybreak Game Company wants to remind the community that PlanetSide 2 could do with more players, by revealing a new continent called Oshur. This continent will feature multiple islands and a wide variety of biomes (zones), which occasionally remind us of Halo due to the sometimes garish colors and the use of purple. You can expect to fight in tropical jungles, desolate sands, underground cave systems and crystalline forests. The devs suggest that the best way to traverse these islands is by aircraft, meaning that air combat should be a prevalent part in Oshur.

Daybreak also talks about some secrets at the heart of Oshur, including strange Vanu technology that may be hidden, waiting for you. There are hidden areas throughout the continent, so make sure to take some time off from all the fighting and explore.

Oshur is still in the early stages of development, but the team promises regular updates about the continent.
