Command & Conquer Red Alert is back, but on mobile and in China

I have good and bad news for you. The good news is that… well, you read it on the headline already, didn't you? Electronic Art's Command & Conquer Red Alert is back, but not exactly as millions of players were hoping for.

EA licensed the Red Alert IP to a Chinese studio, Aiyou Interactive Entertainment, and Tencent picked up the publishing rights. This game has just released exclusively on mobile devices and while it may look like the original series and features some live-action cutscenes, the gameplay is closer to Clash of Clans, Mobile Strike, even EA's own Dungeon Keeper Mobile – you know, games where you are asked to pay more than to play.

While Electronic Arts recently asked for player feedback concerning a possible return of the Command & Conquer series to PC, seeing Red Alert Online reminds me everything that is wrong with gaming, and mobile in particular.

Do you want to see a proper return of the Command & Conquer series, or have you had enough? Oh, and the recently announced Command & Conquer: Rivals for mobile doesn't count as a “game”.
