NCsoft has just revealed Aion: Legions of War, a free-to-play narrative-driven single-player RPG with MMO elements for mobile devices.
Created by the same team that developed the original Aion MMORPG for PC, Aion: Legions of War is NCsoft's first foray into mobile gaming in western territories. The release date is near: expect this game to be available on the App Store and Google Play starting January 24, and you can pre-register right now for some special launch day rewards. The game will be available in English, French, German, Portuguese, Turkish, and Russian languages.
Now I may be wrong, but judging by some details from the press release and after digging around a bit in the official website, I'm convinced that Aion: Legions of War is a hero collector game. Since you are tasked with building a “collection of heroes” and discovering “more than 100 characters” that you can customize and awaken, this has all the makings of a strategy game based on the Aion IP.
Take a look at the videos below, in particular the one featuring the Centurion character and you should get a good idea of the kind of gameplay that expects you. Think GrandChase Mobile or other hero collecting games and you'll get the gist of it.
Obviously, Aion: Legions of War isn't the Aion 2 that NCsoft announced a few weeks ago, also exclusive to mobile devices.
