Most anime shows are usually given the cash-grab treatment when it comes to video game adaptations. This is especially true when it comes to mobile games, where clones of clones are released without any care for quality or gameplay.
Fairy Tail is one of the best examples. Disappointing game after disappointing game, this anime (and others like Naruto or One Piece) is converted into bland, auto-play games. But maybe, just maybe, that is about to change with Tencent's upcoming Fairy Tail: Magic Guide (妖精的尾巴:魔导少年).
Fairy Tail: Magic Guide is a mobile MMORPG developed by Morefun Studio for Tencent and features extremely cute character renditions of the Fairytail anime and manga. The isometric maps are awfully cute and colorful, with proper quests to fulfill. The combat system does seem automated, but the attractive graphics and impressive visual effects almost make up for that fact.
An internal test took place early March, with the Chinese official release being planned for May 2019. A global release is very likely, but nothing is announced for now. Visit the official website if you want to see some pictures, but the official trailer below and several minutes of gameplay should be enough to help you make up your mind.
