In light of the tragedy that hit France and the entire world with the fire on Notre Dame de Paris, there was some talk about how this historical monument was recreated by Ubisoft in Assassin's Creed Unity.
Naturally, this attention made us realize just how much work goes into a single asset in a game and how it goes by unnoticed most of the time. Apparently, one developer at Ubisoft, Caroline Miousse, spent over two years creating the Notre Dame Cathedral for Assassin's Creed Unity. It is now being given fair praise, sadly only after these devastating events.
To encourage donations for the restoration and reconstruction of the Cathedral, Ubisoft is offering Assassin's Creed Unity PC for free until April 25 at 08:00 am (your local time). You get to keep the game forever on Uplay.
Ubisoft also donated around $565,000 to help with the restoration.
