It looks like Thailand is going to be the first country to get Bluehole's new MMORPG Ascent: Infinite Realm. The makers of TERA and Playerunknown's Battleground have been working on this game for several years, going for a steampunk fantasy approach that is fairly unusual. However, this doesn't seem enough to make the game stand out from the crowd, but maybe the air combat will turn out to be a true highlight.
A:IR is now in open beta in Thailand and the always reliable Rendermax captured some footage from the pre-open beta period, a few days ago. It doesn't look too exciting or visually remarkable, to be honest, being leagues behind what Black Desert Online does for several years now. Not to mention that it feels “rushed, clunky and unpolished”, according to Rendermax.
Not a great start for Ascent: Infinite Realm, but maybe things will improve in the meantime. Black Desert Online's publisher Kakao Games is going to publish Ascent: Infinite Realm in North America and Europe, which means that the business model is yet under wraps.
Take a look at the A:IR videos below and skip to the Ein race if you want to see some weird, completely miscast furry fellows.
