Hunter’s Arena: Legends is an upcoming action RPG and Battle Royale hybrid in development at Korean studio Mantisco. Running on the Unreal Engine 4, you get to fight other players on the open world but also battle PvE monsters, with a focus on melee combat. And there's a bad-ass fighting panda as well.
Judging by the trailer below, Hunter’s Arena: Legends' combat is extremely fast-paced and full of energy (thanks MMOCulture). It's easy to compare it to Black Desert Online's combat, but I won't stop there – the environments, characters and visual effects wouldn't be out of place in Pearl Abyss' MMORPG, which is the same as saying that they look stunning.
Combat is based on a low risk/low reward and high risk/high reward approach. As an example, standard weapon attacks will have lower returns than a martial arts attack. It's not entirely clear how this will work, but it seems interesting.
The Battle Royale mode in Hunter’s Arena: Legends is known as Survival and supports up to 50 players, both solo or in 3-player squads. A Tag mode requires two characters per player, and you can do powerful combos if you switch between them with a perfect timing. Finally, there is a Horde mode where players will fight waves of monsters.
What's best, Hunter’s Arena: Legends has a worldwide release planned for later this year on Steam. For now there is no confirmation on the business model, but we'll keep following this game closely.
