Free-to-play PUBG Lite coming to Europe in October

It was last May when we first spotted the free-to-play PUBG Lite game in development by PUBG Corporation. Designed as a low spec version of PUBG, a.k.a. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, this is to be released for free, but don't be surprised if you see the in-game shop gaining more prominence in this version.

While the first PUBG Lite tests were conducted in Thailand and other SEA regions, the beta test soon expanded to Brazil and Turkey. Now, the PUBG Lite beta test is making its way to Russia and Europe. In case you want to know for sure if your country is a part of the new elected regions, there is a handy list of regions for you to check. You will surely notice that North America isn't included, but PUBG Lite will eventually make it there – unless the devs want to make sure that NA players will stick to the original, premium PUBG.

Players within these territories will get the game on October 10, 2019, with an event to celebrate the arrival. The event runs from September 26 to October 8, offering a couple of weapons: Desert Camo – M416 and Rock Star – AKM. This is one of those events where you unlock better rewards as more players join in, but for now the content of the boxes is being kept a secret.

At its core, PUBG Lite isn't that different from its older brother. It's the same battle royale game where up to 100 players join a match, struggling to be the winner of that chicken dinner. The main difference is that you can play this game on your laptop or using a low-end PC. It goes without saying that you should notice a graphical disparity between PUBG and PUBG Lite, but that comes with the territory.
