This is the kind of news where it's a two-in-one. As a player, I find that the most interesting piece of information is the highly likely Moonlight Sculptor global launch.
Moonlight Sculptor is the latest game from XLGames, creators of one of the best sandbox MMORPGs ever made, ArcheAge. Sure, it comes with its fair share of issues and claims of being pay-to-win, something that the release of ArcheAge: Unchained is trying to fight, but it remains a game of great freedom and ambition. And ganking, there's a lot of it in there as well, so beware.
However, Moonlight Sculptor is a completely different kind of game. For starters, it's developed for mobile devices, so you shouldn't expect anything overly ambitious. As for the genre, it's an MMO alright, although one that has more of a Dragonica or MapleStory 2 feel to it. Perhaps calling it a more childish Lost Ark wouldn't be inadequate? You can find labeled as Royal Road: Legendary Moonlight Sculptor in some places; apparently this was the working title.
The Moonlight Sculptor release in Korea happened during October 2019, so it makes sense that XLGames is now gearing up for a global release, something that MMOCulture believes is going to happen.
As for the other side of the coin, or the news, for that matter, it's about Kakao Games acquiring a 53% stake in XLGames, which gives them control. Kakao Games is the western publisher of Black Desert Online and is planning for XLGames to develop new games both for PC and mobile platforms.
