MiHoYo has unveiled the much hyped Genshin Impact 1.2 update. Titled The Chalk Prince and the Dragon, it adds the first new area since the game's release. Dragonspine is the new snowy location that players will get to explore starting December 23, when the update releases on PC, PS4, PS5 (via backwards compatibility), Android, and iOS.
Dragonspine is a frozen mountain range to the south of Mondstadt, as many fans surely suspected already. Within its boundaries lies a lost ancient civilization, unique creatures, and enticing rewards. However, it's most interesting to note the addition to this place of extreme weather – a Sheer Cold bar, which you must keep in mind during exploration and combat. Keeping warm is crucial, although it's unclear if you'll be able to use a Pyro character to light a fire and keep your party warm and safe.
There's a new seasonal event coming with the Genshin Impact 1.2 update release, also titled The Chalk Prince and the Dragon. You must join Albedo, the genius Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of Mondstadt's Knights of Favonius, to investigate a mysterious and powerful sword called Festering Desire. This sword is one of the rewards for completion of the event, but there are others such as the Crown of Insight.
Incidentally, Albedo is one of the two new 5-star characters that you can roll for. Albedo is a Geo character that uses a sword as weapon, and Ganyu is a half human, half-adeptus Cryo archer. You'll get to learn more about Ganyu with the introduction of her side quest.
