Developed by Amazon Game Studios, the videogame branch of the famous online retailer, Crucible is a team-based shooter that mixes PvP and PvE elements, and could be labeled as a battle royale game at heart, similar to The Cycle. In this free-to-play game, you pick a hunter from a diverse cast of characters, choose a game mode, and coordinate your actions with your teammates to come out as the last team standing, or the winning team.

The Crucible Amazon game features an eclectic assortment of hunters, ten in total at launch, including humans, animals, and creatures of unknown origins. Each one comes with a unique set of skills and can be improved as you collect Essence, level up, and unlock rewards. With two or more offensive or defensive skills, you must learn if you prefer long-range, melee, or stealthy attacks in order to defeat your foes.

Foes can be human players, who incarnate other hunters, or AI-controlled enemies, mostly the dangerous fauna from the wild planet where you are fighting. It's crucial to increase your hunter's strength by defeating mobs before engaging other players.

The Amazon Crucible game comes with three game modes where teams of different sizes are tasked with an objective, or must simply eliminate the rival players. In Alpha Hunters you partner up with another player and set out to eliminate the other seven teams of two players each, collecting Essence and trying to stay inside of the shrinking circle area. Heart of the Hives is a game mode where teams of four battle bosses and compete to capture three Hive hearts. As for Harvester command, two teams of eight players fight for control of harvesters and protect them until the machines reach the necessary Essence quota.

The Crucible is the first Amazon game to be publicly available. The Crucible download is free as soon as the release date of May 20, 2020 hits. Amazon also worked on the canceled sports MOBA Breakaway, and is putting the final touches on New World, a highly anticipated MMORPG.
