Perfect World Entertainment strikes again with another quality free MMORPG. Forsaken World offers everything you’d expect from a good role-playing game, ideal for those looking for some gameplay that won’t take long to learn. Best of all, Forsaken World has high quality graphics and smooth animations that won’t leave anyone indifferent.

Although Perfect World is known for creating games based on an Oriental setting and elements, such as Legend of Martial Arts, Battle of the Immortals or Rusty Hearts, with Forsaken World they try a more Western fantasy approach, with the usual races – Humans, Elves, Dwarves – and a couple to add flavor: Stonemen and Kindred. It may be something unusual for the developers at PWE, but as it turns out, Forsaken World is pretty much standard fare as far as MMO games go – think Runes of Magic, for example. There are some interesting touches, though, such as the fancy clothes that the more talented characters can wear, and the character creation is very detailed and appealing – besides the race and class, one can customize several cosmetic aspects such as hair style and color, with some unique options for each race. Mounts and PvP are also part of the game, but nothing new here.

If Forsaken World wasn’t such a great achievement and clearly a labor of love of their creators, it could be easily dismissed as just one more run-of-the-mill free MMORPG. However, it plays so smoothly, with a clean interface, beautiful game world and charming characters that it has to be considered one of the best examples of its genre. After all, there’s nothing wrong with generic, as long as it’s done with such flair.
