Contrary to what the name might suggest, Renaissance Heroes isn’t a game about science, discovery and blueprints. Well, just the last part, maybe, since the rest is purely fast-paced action. This is a free-to-play first-person shooter game set in the 16th century, with many factions trying to get their hands on the most powerful of Leonardo Da Vinci’s invention – a time machine.

It seems that the last Da Vinci invention was the most sought of them all – a machine capable of taking man through time and space. His intentions of using it to create a society based on reason and logic and prevent the Church to rule on superstition and faith were cut short by a failed experiment, but the blueprint was still extremely precious. So much that it was swiftly taken and is now motivation for several factions to fight and ultimately use it for their own agenda, shady or not. The player is one of those hunters, using every means necessary to overcome the competition.

With several maps based on real historical locations, such as Firenze and Milano, Renaissance Heroes offers some ingenious weapons and brutal combat to prove your skills against other characters. This is an online FPS that tries to bring something new visually speaking, while maintaining the foundations of what makes a good game in the genre. The game modes offer some weapon-based variations that add to the gameplay, and with over 100 achievements and daily quests to keep players busy, there’s a lot to do in Renaissance Heroes.
