Supernova is Bandai Namco's and Primal Game Studio's attempt at injecting fresh blood into the extremely competitive and tired MOBA genre. Going for a sci-fi setting that isn't overused at the moment, with only a few games such as Shards of War trying it, Supernova successfully mixes online battle arena and real-time strategy mechanics in a single, seamless game.

In Supernova you have to choose between humans or aliens and battle to to save your race from extinction. The diverse commanders (the heroes or champions in this game) are your main strength, possessing unique stats and skills, from ranged to support, brawler and sniper, among others. But you also have to take control of the strategy elements, with actions such as deploying and outfitting mechanized land and air units, manage technologies, upgrades and build order.  Combining drops will create durable boosts to the abilities of your favorite commanders and the Supremacy ability allows you to “unleash a planet-razing ancient technology that will grant a savvy team megalithic blasting drones, which relentlessly drive to the heart of an enemy’s defenses.”

Supernova is big, bold and polished – a welcome entry in a genre that is becoming very stale.
