Genshin Impact has received a lot of praise for its vivid visuals, and rightly so. However, not everyone has a powerful PC to run it without lag or stuttering, spoiling an adventure that deserves to be experienced to its fullest. Making some visual fidelity compromises in order to enjoy smooth gameplay is a trade-off that you should consider – besides, Genshin Impact still manages to look pretty good even at lower resolutions and with some lowered graphical details. So here is how to make Genshin Impact run smoother and faster on PC.

The first thing that you should try in Genshin Impact, and every game for that matter, is to optimize the graphics settings. To do so, you must go to the graphics tab in settings and change a few things to see what works best for you. This is common knowledge for any gamer, but it may be new to those who have just discovered gaming and want to enjoy Genshin Impact.
First advice is for you to lower the graphics quality and display mode, a.k.a. resolution until you reach a decent compromise between visual quality and frame rate. If that didn't solve the issue, you must tinker with some of the custom settings. Some of the things that make the frame rate in Genshin Impact take a major hit are the render resolution, anti-aliasing, and shadows. Gradually decrease each one of these settings to see if you notice a performance improvement.
There are a few other simple tweaks that you can try outside of the game itself. On Windows, write “game mode” in the search bar and turn the option off. Do the same for the Xbox Game Bar, which is another Windows 10 feature that you may not need for your gaming sessions. Make sure that you don't have any superfluous programs running in the background, such as messengers or others. You should also close any browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, because they tend to use the PC's memory and hard disk out of nowhere, causing stuttering.
Let's see another tweak that you can try. Open the file explorer and find the folder where the game is installed. Locate the game executable (not the launcher) either by exploring or by using the search feature, right click and open Properties. Then, choose the Compatibility tab, check Disable Fullscreen Optimizations if it isn't yet. Next, find the Change High DPI Settings option below and click it. Make sure that the Override High DPI Scaling Behavior option is checked.
Now, you can launch Genshin Impact and see if these changes improved the performance. We hope that this guide helped you and made the anime RPG run smoother than before.
