Lost Ark is slowly ticking all the boxes needed to finally reach North America and Europe. Smilegate's ambitious MMORPG released in Korea on November 7, 2018, in a soft-launch/open beta state that is standard practice in this country. The official launch in Korea took place in December 4, 2019. But what English players want to know is if the Lost Ark release date for North America and Europe is already out there.
Lost Ark release date | All dates so far
Through closed betas and open betas, Lost Ark is already playable in Korea and Russia, with other territories gearing up for release. China and Japan versions are under development, with the North American and European launch officially confirmed but not yet pinned down.
Smilegate's CEO Kwon Hyuk-Bin confirmed the Lost Ark western release, but didn't give us an exact time-frame for that. The initial plan of consolidating the Korean release and moving on to the NA and EU servers seems to be out of the picture, judging by the appearance of the Russian release. This statement was made in 2015 and a lot has changed in the meantime.
Without further delay, let's look at the Lost Ark release dates so far. The Lost Ark English release seems to be the last one for the anticipated MMORPG, a move that is similar to what other Korean developers have done before.
- Korea: November 7, 2018 (soft launch/open beta) / December 4, 2019 (official launch)
- Russia: October 27, 2019 (open beta)
- Japan: September 23, 2020 (official launch)
- China: TBA
- North America and Europe: Early 2022 – publisher is Amazon Games
2022 is the year of Lost Ark, after all the rumors of job offers asking for English translators and a potential console release. Adding fuel to the fire, there are other rumors speaking of an Unreal Engine 4 upgrade and a mobile version.
The western publisher is Amazon Games, the studio that is also working on the MMORPG New World, as well as a free-to-play MMO based on the works of The Lord of the Rings, which ended up canceled. Before releasing in the west, Lost Ark is surely going through at least one closed beta by the end of 2021.
