Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds is the unlikely spin-off that no one was expecting, but it is bound to make many heads turn. Developed by Netmarble for Android and iOS, it remains faithful to the stunning visuals of the previous two games, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. However, with Level-5 being the creators and publishers of the franchise, Cross Worlds is aiming for a Japanese launch during late 2020 or early 2021. So, can the rest of the world hope for a Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds global release, or should we lose all hope?
Is a Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds Global Launch Coming?
The first hint about a Cross Worlds global launch surfaces as you dig deeper into Netmarble's recent western release history. You can see that quite a few games that would be considered exclusive to the eastern market were released in North America and Europe, showing that the studio has a plan to take most of its high-profile games overseas. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, The King of Fighters All-Star, and BTS World are some recent examples.
With an office in the United States based out off Los Angeles, Netmarble US is surely going to work on localization and release of many more games.
A press release revealing Netmarble's financial results for the third quarter of 2020 mentions the studio's hopes for 2021:
“We’re looking forward to what 2021 will bring as we continue to deliver an exciting slate of new games next year, including Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds, Seven Knights Revolution, and MARVEL Future Revolution.”
Furthermore, an interview by MMOCulture from December 2019 already revealed the plans for a Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds global release, despite the postponed release date:
“Currently, our plan is for the game to get a global launch in the 2nd half of 2020.”
Just one more detail that ties into Netmarble's plan for a worldwide launch. While trying to create an account on the official Korean website, we get the following message:
“We are preparing to expand our service area, so please be patient! Available regions: Korea/Japan/Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau”
So, the answer is yes, a Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds global release is planned and you should definitely look forward to this exciting anime MMORPG during 2021.
