With the recent announcement that Spellbreak is free-to-play for all platforms, many players are now wondering about when they can lay their hands on this game. Proletariat's ambitious AAA battle royale title is shaping up to make a name for itself, thanks to the impressive graphics and amazing spell combinations that pave the way for a new kind of action combat. Harry Potter would be proud, but he wouldn't stand a chance against these spellcasters himself. So, what is the Spellbreak release date on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch?
What is the Spellbreak Release Date?
The Spellbreak launch date is set for late 2020. Proletariat revealed as much when they shared the free-to-play business model with the world by mid-July 2020. No more details were announced, probably because Spellbreak's closed beta 2 was still running at the time and the devs still have a lot of work ahead.
Another thing that we don't know from the original announcement concerns the various platforms. Since Spellbreak is cross-platform, it is highly likely that a simultaneous release is planned, if nothing changes in the meantime. However, development sometimes stumbles – hopefully not – and a platform or two may see some sort of delay.
Anyway, for now, Spellbreak release date for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch is likely targeting Q4 2020.
Spellbreak is a magic-focused battle royale game developed by a team that includes game industry veterans from studios such as Harmonix (Guitar Hero), Turbine (Dungeons and Dragons Online), and Insomniac (Ratchet and Clank). You can become a battlemage and prove your might against other players in solo or team modes, exploring every nook and cranny of the Hollow Lands. The PC version is an exclusive of the Epic Games Store, a move that makes sense considering that the devs received an Unreal Dev grant to support development.
