Warhammer: Odyssey is a free-to-play MMORPG for Android and iOS developed by Virtual Realms. Set in the popular world created by Games Workshop, it tells a tale of darkness and chaos looming upon civilization, and the few heroes that will stand up and fight. There is a storyline to unravel, with episodic content releases expanding on
One of the noteworthy features in this massively multiplayer online role RPG is the complete lack of auto-play. Unlike other MMO games for mobile, and even PC and console, you won't be able to use an auto option to make your character progress without your interference. In Warhammer: Odyssey, you need to interact and control your character's moves, completing quests and fighting AI-controlled foes and other players. With the deluge of auto-play games that require little to no interaction, this makes for quite a refreshing change, as long as the combat mechanics are tight and polished. Besides not having auto-play, Warhammer: Odyssey also won't have any sort of energy system that stops players on their tracks.
You can join a few friends in a group, meet new allies as you enlist in a Mercenary Company to take on some challenging missions, or explore the riches of the Marienburg auction house.
The first classes to be revealed are the following: High Elf Archmage, Dwarf Engineer, Human Warrior Priest, High Elf Shadow Warrior, Dwarf Slayer, and Human Witch Hunter. You'll find a class that is suited to your playstyle, as each one plays a role that is standard in any MMORPG. You have your healer, tank, support, melee DPS, among others, providing enough diversity to create a balanced and effective party.
While the classes seem gender locked in this character creation video, the devs stated that you will be able to choose between male and female further down the line.
The Warhammer: Odyssey release date is set for late January 2021, following a closed beta and soft launch by the end of 2020.
