Bandai Namco Games America just revealed another game for their increasingly richer free-to-play line-up, which already includes Rise of Incarnates and Battleline: Steel Warfare, among others. The new game is a free-to-play MOBA and real-time strategy mix titled Supernova, in development at Primal Game Studio and is expected to release on PC later this year. The Supernova alpha starts today so you can sign up at the official website to try your luck at getting a key.
In Supernova players must battle as humans or aliens to save their race from extinction. There are a wide variety of commanders (the heroes or champions of this game) to control, with different stats and skills, from ranged to support, brawler and sniper, among others. You can also deploy infantry, mechanized land and air units in RTS style, pushing the in-game strategy even further. You can also combine drops to create durable boosts to the abilities of your favorite commanders. Finally, there's the Supremacy ability which allows you to “unleash a planet-razing ancient technology that will grant a savvy team megalithic blasting drones, which relentlessly drive to the heart of an enemy’s defenses.” Sounds like a pretty devastating attack.
So, do you think Supernova is just one more MOBA or a game that is actually trying something new?
