City of Heroes: Freedom is going to shut down on November 30th, according to Paragon Studios, the team that is handling the free-to-play MMO. Sadly, the studio itself is also going to close, all part of a realignment plan from NCsoft. Sources say that about 80 employees were laid off of their jobs so far. The news was disclosed on the official City of Heroes website.
City of Heroes was released on April 2004 by Cryptic Studios and later acquired by NCsoft, giving Paragon Studios the handling duties. Cryptic Studios later released another superhero MMORPG, now known as Champions Online: Free For All. Those who are looking for additional alternatives should also try DC Universe Online or the upcoming Marvel Universe Online.
