The first Diablo Immortal alpha test may be just a few months away. During the presentation of the financial results for the fourth quarter of 2019, Activision Blizzard finally revealed more on the controversial mobile action RPG.
According to MMOCulture, there are plans to take the game into regional alpha testing later this year. Judging by the spreadsheet, the time frame for this test is in the middle of 2020. Obviously, we should assume that by regional they mean China or other adjacent countries, as Tencent is pretty much responsible for development of Diablo Immortal, although Blizzard seemed adamant in the past as to convince folks that they are contributing equally to the game.
Other quotes from the conference call include listening to “invaluable player feedback” and the drive to “make a great Diablo experience.” With Path of Exile Mobile on its way, they really need to step up their game, otherwise we're up for another disappointment the size of Warcraft 3: Reforged.
There are two ways to look at Diablo Immortal – either it's another nail in the coffin of Blizzard's reputation, or it turns out to be a much better game than we are expecting it to be. We'll see how it goes with the Diablo Immortal alpha test.
