Are you excited? What if I tell you that Diablo Immortal is developed by Blizzard in partnership with Chinese giant NetEase… for mobile devices? So, that's a bit of a letdown, right?
Oh well, we'll always have Lost Ark, I guess. If that eventually ends up releasing in the west, anyway.
So, Diablo Immortal was announced at Blizzcon and is in development for Android and iOS devices with a planned 2019 release. The website is already available if you want to pre-register right away. Diablo Immortal will feature six classes at launch (Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, Demon Hunter and Necromancer) and is set between the events of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and Diablo 3.
Before you gasp at the like/dislike ratio from the announcement trailers below (cinematic and gameplay) just as I did, let me warn you that Diablo Immortal is highly likely to be a phenomenal success for Blizzard, despite this outrage. It may not be the Diablo MMORPG that we wanted for over a decade, but it's the Diablo MMORPG that we're getting and, quite frankly, it doesn't look that bad – not stellar either, but I'll reserve judgment for later.
