Forge is one more MMO game that had to transition to free-to-play not even a year after release. An update expected for this week will be essential to the survival of Forge, since the small indie studio Dark Vale needs the revenue to keep adding features to the game. However, the studio claims that Forge won't be pay-to-win, offering an item shop that includes only cosmetic items. They plan to add customization to cosmetic items in the future and for now they will offer armor sets and XP boosts.
Forge will also have Starter Packs on Steam for $19 and the studio plans to give everyone who has purchased Forge this pack, which will most likely contain a timed XP boost and a skin set for all characters.
