Genshin Impact developer miHoYo rebrands as HoYoverse, expands globally

Genshin Impact developer miHoYo has announced a rebrand, changing its name to HoYoverse. The new brand is focused on the goals that were set for the company since day one, which was to deliver a wide range of entertainment experiences to players all over the globe. The focus wasn't solely on games, as some players may be led to believe – the Chinese publisher and developer has many years of experience in manga, and in fact that's how Genshin Impact started its genesis.

MiHoYo also dabbled its feet in music with the wonderful Genshin Impact concert, light novels, the N0va Desktop App, and much more.

With HoYoverse, the team is planning on offering high quality and diverse content to global audiences. This means that you shouldn't fear anymore that one of their games or works stays limited to the east, for example.

“Our mission in establishing HoYoverse is to create a vast and content-driven virtual world that integrates games, anime, and other diverse types of entertainment, which will provide players with a high level of freedom and immersion,” said Haoyu Cai, co-founder and CEO of HoYoverse. “We will continue to focus on long-term operation strategies, consistent technical research, and innovation in a variety of fields, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and pipeline construction, to ensure that sufficient content is created to meet the expectations of players worldwide for a virtual world experience.”

HoYoverse isn't based in China alone anymore; the studio is branching to other regions with offices in Montreal, Los Angeles, Singapore, Tokyo, and Seoul.

One of HoYoverse's next games is Honkai Star Rail, a game that expands on Honkai Impact 3rd. The Montreal studio is working on a “AAA open-world action-adventure game featuring shooting-based gameplay within a living, breathing paranormal world.”
