MiHoYo has lifted the lid on Genshin Impact update 1.1, the first major patch for the hit anime RPG. Called A New Star Approaches and with a release planned for November 11 on PC, PS4, Android, and iOS, it brings a host of new content and features to the game. The highlight is the addition of four new playable characters, including two 5-star characters, but there are other significant novelties such as PlayStation 5 compatibility and a city reputation system.
Starting with the four new characters, you may already have heard rumors about them. Now it's the time to confirm if those rumors were true or not, as Childe and Zhongli, two of the most discussed names, come to life in less than two weeks. These are the two new 5-star characters and have very different ways of combat.
Childe joins Amber and Fischl as an Archer character, his vision is Hydro, and he has the ability to switch between melee and ranged combat modes, providing a new and very interesting approach to combat.
As for Zhongli, he is a Geo polearm fighter with a focus on area of damage attacks. He is also good at defense abilities and has the skill to petrify enemies, surely paving the way for exciting character combos. The remaining two 4-star characters are Diona, the Katzlein Cocktail, and Xinyan, the Blazing Rift.
The Genshin Impact update 1.1 A New Star Approaches brings brand-new quests that continue the main story and put an end to the Liyue Harbor chapter. The first seasonal event called Unreconciled Stars runs for two weeks and tasks you with fighting a terrible catastrophe looming over Teyvat. You will face quests including co-op challenges and you may earn 4-star character Fischl as a reward.
The newly added PlayStation 5 backwards compatibility allows players with the new Sony console to play Genshin Impact. The game comes with improved graphics and faster loading times.
A city reputation system is introduced, allowing you to build your reputation within each city. You can unlock rewards such as region-exclusive items and customizations. New items will help you exploring and fighting in Teyvat, including a much requested portable waypoint, but also a portable stove for swifter cooking, a treasure compass, and oculus resonance stones.
Genshin Impact reportedly made nearly $250 million in a month, becoming one of the top-grossing games in the world. With the Genshin Impact update 1.1 A New Star Approaches release, it should once again pick up momentum and largely increase those numbers.
