Hoplon Entertainment is starting Season 2 of its exciting free-to-play car combat MOBA Heavy Metal Machines, and it's inspired by none other than the works of the famous H.P. Lovecraft. This season is titled Into the Abyss, and the update also comes with a brand new support character.
Starting with the new contestant, her name is Stargazer and she brings weapons such as an Orbital Beam, Life Support System Warp and Entangle. She also has the ability to attach to other vehicles, making her a versatile support character.
Stargazer's look is both inspired by community feedback and the first African-American astronaut Mae Carol Jemison.
The Metal Pass was introduced in September and offers players a progression system that unlocks cosmetic rewards through weekly missions and challenges. Season 2 brings cosmetic items themed after abyssal creatures, ocean animals and water sports, drawing inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythology that is seen through so many works, particularly movies and games.
“Although Heavy Metal Machines only left closed beta in September, it is important to us that the game remains fresh and we introduce new mechanics and strategies for our loyal community” said Eros Carvalho, Head of Studio and Development for Hoplon. “We’re constantly looking for feedback from both our new and veteran players on what we can introduce to improve the game. Stargazer and our season two content are a culmination of a close relationship with our players, and we can’t wait for them to get their hand on this fantastic new content.”
Tatiana Moreira, Head of Marketing and Publishing, said: “Season Two represents a huge milestone for us at Hoplon. Our community is at the heart of what we do with Heavy Machine Machines, they are the most important asset to have and their feedback is crucial to the success of our game.”
