It looks like 2020 is going to be the year of Lost Ark… for Japanese players, that is. Smilegate's eagerly anticipated MMORPG is about to open up pre-registrations for the closed beta in Japan, showing that western players must resign to sigh, sit down, and wait for a few more months, or even years. The Lost Ark Japan closed beta pre-registrations start on June 25, 2020.
The info was relayed by the official Lost Ark Japan Twitter account. It says that the closed beta for Lost Ark Japan has been decided and the plan is to start the recruitment process on June 25. However, the actual Lost Ark closed beta date is yet to be revealed.

The Lost Ark Japan site is the place to go if you want to learn more about this server, but it may be region-locked, so not everyone is able to access it.
One of the latest news from Smilegate concerning a Lost Ark English release mentioned the Japan version. More specifically, it detailed the team's goal of focusing on Japan for 2020, likely pushing the North America and Europe releases for a distant 2021.
A few recent job offers including English translators prove that Lost Ark is indeed coming to the west, and a Lost Ark Mobile is also under development. The big question here is if Lost Ark is going to remain an exciting prospect when it releases in 2021 or 2022, after so many years of waiting and despairing.
