Nexon remains extremely active in anticipation of MapleStory 2's second closed beta, publishing weekly producer blog posts covering different aspects of the game. The latest one by Community Manager Cuddles talks about some of the new dungeons coming with the next phase.
These dungeons include ramped up difficulty and will be a challenge for Maplers who have reached end game, with the maximum level of 50. Hard Adventure dungeons, for example, are 4-player party dungeons that are way more challenging than your regular Basic Adventure dungeons. A new Hard Adventure dungeon called the Temple of Immortals will test players, as they will have to face the huge Balrog, a boss that is capable of smashing you with boulders, hit you with his chain blade and throw this mighty roar that… will make you go deaf? Well, not exactly, but it will probably drain some of your health.
After defeating Balrog and earning some well-deserved Epic Equipment, you can try to access the Chaos Raid Dungeon Shadow Altar, also for level 50 players. This one used to be a level 30 dungeon during the first MapleStory 2 closed beta, but is now much harder, with a 10-player team needed to stand a chance against Devorak.
A solo survival wave dungeon is another one of the new distractions, where players will challenge their skills by surviving as much as 30 rounds of enemy hordes. There is a leaderboard to show your feat and special rewards as well.
Treasure dungeons are new additions and bring more rewards. These subterranean labyrinths such as Abandoned Mine B1 and B4 are places of many riches and even more dangers. You can tackle the former by yourself, but the latter requires a party of four players to progress.
Nexon promised that the second MapleStory 2 closed beta will begin in July, but the exact day is still under wraps.
