If you're not aware of the plague that is the Let's Play Minecraft community on YouTube, you're a lucky fellow indeed. Pretty much since 2009, Minecraft was the most viewed game on YouTube, which means hell if you're not a fan of its voxel-based craziness.
But now, that reign is over and the culprit is Epic Games' Fortnite, of course. Breaking record after record, this game is now the most viewed on YouTube and judging by Matchmade's stats, it's only going to widen the gap to Minecraft, leaving PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Clash Royale way, way behind.
The reasons for this? One of them is pretty clear, and it's certainly the big reason for all the success: Fortnite Battle Royale is free-to-play, which means that everyone and their moms can play this game mode, and that is exactly what happens – it's not the PvE mode in Fortnite that is getting all this attention. The other reason is that Fortnite is available in several platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One and more recently on mobile. Oh, and it's also a fun game for sure.
Take a look at the chart below to see just how Fortnite is going to the moon.
