There's one more popular game about to get a free-to-play spin-off exclusively for Asia – Titanfall, the mech shooter developed by Respawn for Electronic Arts. This isn't the sequel that the studio is known to be working on, but an exclusive F2P game in the same style as Borderlands Online or Call of Duty Online.
There are no details at the moment besides the fact that the publishing deal was struck with Nexon, the giant Asian free-to-play publisher which has in its catalog popular games such as MapleStory 2, Vindictus, Dirty Bomb, Closers Online, Tree of Savior, Peria Chronicles and we'll stop here because there's just too many games to mention. This new Titanfall will be a PC title and it's unknown if it will ever come west, but our bet is on a resounding ‘no'.
A recent rumor says that a free-to-play Need For Speed Edge is in development for Korea, also to be published by Nexon. If this turns out to be true, it seems that Electronic Arts and Nexon have a very healthy – and profitable – relationship.
