It was only a week ago that the Epic Games folks opened their hearts and admitted that the free-to-play MOBA Paragon was struggling to find a decent player base. There was some reevaluation going on, but apparently it was a dead end.
And so, Paragon is going to close on April 26, 2018. What was one of the most promising MOBAs ever created turned out to find a lot of bumps in the road, and no amount of map updates and gameplay balancing was enough to save it. “We have failed you — despite the team’s incredibly hard work — and we’re sorry”, said Epic Games.
The studio revealed that it didn't find a “clear path for us to grow Paragon into a MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable.” Refunds will be made for every purchase on any platform, and you can find the instructions here.
We're sorry to see Paragon go, but seeing this game and Fortnite Battle Royale side by side, Epic Games had obviously to make a decision – keep struggling on a game with an uncertain future, or focus those resources on what is becoming one of the most successful games recently released.
