If, like us, you've been anxiously expecting news from the western version of Phantasy Star Online 2, then we finally have them! They're not the most positive though, so take a deep breath and here we go.
According to TSSZ, a source that is citing a Sega employee in Japan confirms that the release of Phantasy Star Online 2 in North America and Europe is definitely very shaky and, apparently, unlikely. The anonymous source said that PSO2 is “fully localized” in English and ready for an “immediate western release.” However, Sega is planning to release this version across Asia in 2014, most specifically English speaking Asian regions. No specific reason for this decision was revealed, but speculation points to Sega's strategy and the fear that Phantasy Star Online 2 may not be profitable in the West.
However, Phantasy Star Online 2 isn't outright canceled in North America and Europe, but all these rumors – we have to call it that – definitely paint a very bleak picture, as well as Sega's lack of communication over the game. Whatever happens, it shouldn't take much more time to discover the fate of PSO2.
