Genshin Impact isn't done inspiring gamers and development studios all over the world. It seems that even Netmarble – coincidentally or not – paid attention to miHoYo's hit open world RPG and is now trying its own approach. Using the popular franchise The Seven Deadly Sins and an open world RPG template seems like a promising take on the genre, with the first The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin trailer showing some decidedly impressive footage. Could it be really representative of the final gameplay and visuals?
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin follows on the extremely successful The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Netmarble's previous take on the anime franchise. The turn-based combat RPG garnered millions of fans all over the place and paved the way for this follow-up, where we'll once again get to meet and control Meliodas, Hawk, Elizabeth, Diane, and more.
Gameplay will take place in an open world and features real-time combat, with many side activities to do, such as the now pretty much mandatory treasure chest search. Gathering is part of the adventure, as is gliding and climbing mountains, just some of the mechanics that are now trending thanks to Genshin Impact.
If we didn't know any better, we would be inclined to say that the last panorama shot from the reveal trailer below is taken from Genshin Impact, or at least some parts, such as the houses or the flying island. But The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross did feature such an artistic style, so we'll just save that under coincidences. It's all very promising though, no doubt in that.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is in development for PC, mobile and consoles (thanks MMOCulture), but there's no release schedule yet.
