Valorant launch date announced with new content coming soon

Riot Games had a great surprise in store for us today, especially those who have been eagerly awaiting the studio's new team-based shooter. The Valorant launch date was announced and it's not quite the summer release that is being teased for months. No, you don't have to wait a couple of months or so to get your hands on this game. Hang in there and keep reading, because you may be in for a surprise.

The Valorant full release is coming on June 2, 2020. This means that the game's release is in fact being pushed forward. The reveal was made in a video where Executive Producer Anna Donlon and Game Director Joe Ziegler tell it like it is.

The Valorant closed beta, which you may remember as the one where you had to sit through days and days of Twitch streaming in the hopes of scoring a drop, is closing on May 28. This gives Riot a few days to wipe out player progress, patch in the new content, and get ready for the full global release of the 5v5 shooter.

Everyone will start on an even footing, at least in theory. Evidently, those who have played in the closed beta know their way around the three available maps, are familiar with the Agents and their abilities, and are well prepared to face the battlefield. New players will have to serve as fodder as they learn the ropes for a few days or weeks.

For the months after the Valorant launch, Riot is planning on adding “new agents, new maps, new skins, and new ways to compete.” The team is also looking into adding “new game server deployments in Warsaw, Madrid, London, Atlanta, and Dallas. We’re also not satisfied with latency in Colombia, Argentina, and Eastern Europe—looking at options there.”

The Valorant launch date is June 2, 2020 and Riot's shooter is currently a PC exclusive.
