There’s no stopping Wargaming, the developer and publisher of World of Tanks and World of Warplanes, as well as the upcoming World of Warships. The studio just announced the acquisition of Gas Powered Games, the well-known developer helmed by Chris Taylor and creator of franchises such as Dungeon Siege and Supreme Commander.
Gas Powered Games will now be owned by Wargaming and even CEO and founder Chris Taylor will now be a part of the World of Tanks developer. This is the second studio recently acquired by Wargaming, after Day 1 Studios, reinforcing the bet on multiplatform development.
Gas Powered Games was in a troubled spot after the failure of its Kickstarter effort, a game name Wildman, which fell short of its $1,100,000 goal and was canceled a few days before the end date. The acquisition by Wargaming most certainly saved the studio from closing.
