News:
EverQuest Next on PS4, PC alpha begins January 31
Besides PC, EverQuest Next will also launch on PS4, as the Sony Online boss John Smedley revealed. If you’re hoping for some nice, juicy details on the PS4 version of EverQuest Next, forget about it. Smedley only said the following: “Yes. We will absolutely be bringing EverQuest Next to the Playstation 4!”. The EverQuest Next Landmark Alpha test PC requirements were also revealed, so if you want to check them out, head over to our website. This alpha began on January 31st for those that purchased either the Explorer or Trailblazer packs.
The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot open beta announced
After a few open house events, The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is finally ready to enter open beta. This enjoyable mix of hack and slash and dungeon building, or Diablo meets Dungeon Keeper, if you wish, will enter open beta on February 25th, Ubisoft has announced. More features will be added to the game by then, such as the new character Runaway, who joins the existing Archer, Mage and Knight. The Runaway is the first female hero of the game, a mid-range melee attacker with an axe and dreams of becoming a rockstar.
Sony Online shuts down 4 games in 2014
Sony Online is going to shutdown four games during 2014. One of them is the fairly new Wizardry Online. A couple of them will shut down on March 31, 2014: Free Realms and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures. The other two, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and Wizardry Online will remain live until July 31, 2014. While Wizardry Online didn’t perform as expected in the US, the other closures are due to the costs and resources required to maintain the code bases.
GunZ 2 US open beta in early February
Were you jealous of all those European players who are already playing the beta of GunZ: The Second Duel? Don’t worry, the game is coming soon to the US. GunZ: The Second Duel is in open beta in Europe for a couple of months and the developer finally revealed that the North and South American versions are due early February. And if you’re looking for a patsy, then blame it on Steam – apparently it was Valve’s review process that led to this delay. GunZ: The Second Duel is a free online third person shooter full of acrobatic moves and wall running, just like the acclaimed original game.
‘Find the Game’ Quiz
This week’s quiz game is a MOBA. Yes, one of those that many of you just love to hate. This MOBA is a relatively new game and it tries to look and play fresh, thanks to the unusual military theme. The first one to write the answer in the comments (here or on our YouTube channel) will see his or her name featured in the next Free to Play Unlimited episode.
Most Wanted: Albion Online
If you’re looking for an exciting cross-platform sandbox MMO, then look no further than Albion Online. Contrary to what you may be thinking, Albion Online isn’t a Fable MMORPG – this is a game without any link to Lionhead’s Fable series. But its features are more than enough to get us excited. We want to describe it as a mix between RuneScape and Everquest Next, offering a huge, single game world where all items and buildings are crafted by players. The character customization doesn’t limit you, your hero is what you wear – so you can actually be a mage knight if you want to. Even more exciting, in Albion Online there are no levels, you’re only as strong as what you’re wearing, carrying, and what you crafted. In a Minecraft twist, when night comes, demons spawn and attack your village. There’s a lot more to say about Albion Online, but we’ll leave that for other time. The closed beta is planned for Q3 2014, so keep an eye on it.
