News:
MMO shooter Defiance is going free-to-play in June
Defiance, a flawed but pretty fun MMO shooter is going free-to-play in June. So it lasted little over a year as a retail game, in case you’re wondering. This post-apocalyptic third-person shooter tie-in to the SyFy show of the same name had some good moments and Trion Worlds wants to share them with all players. The PC version is turning free to play in June 4 while the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will transition mid-July. Players will be able to experience the entire Bay Area storyline, original end-game content, and future missions completely for free. All existing Defiance players will get some perks such as more character slots, loadouts, ark keycode capacity, and inventory slots.
TERA celebrates second birthday with new Reaper class
TERA Rising is about to celebrate its second birthday, which means that it’s party time and everyone’s invited to use the new Reaper class. To celebrate this date, Tera Rising is getting the Reaper class on the North American server on May 13th. The Reaper is a free class that uses chained blades and blends melee and mid-ranged combat. To use the Reaper class you have to possess a level 40 character and the Reaper class will be unlocked at level 50. Besides the new class, there will be several events available.
Project Legion is upcoming PC MMO shooter from the makers of EVE Online
PC players aren’t getting Dust 514, but they’re getting an allegedly better shooter codenamed Project Legion. Project Legion is being developed by CCP Games, makers of EVE Online and the shooter Dust 514. The studio says “it’s taking all we learned from Dust and almost making a new game from scratch, even though it’s the same team doing a first-person shooter”. So this is pretty much the same game, only different, since it was developed in a few months at CCP Shanghai using assets of Dust 514 from the PS3 version. Sorry if we don’t share the enthusiasm. The game will be free-to-play, maintain the sandbox-style shooting gameplay and its success will determine if it will be PC exclusive or also release on consoles. Recently CCP canceled the World of Darkness MMORPG after many years in development hell.
‘Find the Game’ Quiz
This anime action game is shutting down in May and it wasn’t live more than a few months. Some players say it plays like Elsword but the characters actually look like they were taken from the older Final Fantasy games. The first one to write the answer in the comments (here or on our YouTube channel) will see his or her name featured in the next Free to Play Unlimited episode.
Most Wanted: Trove
At first sight, Trove just looks like one more game trying to get on the MineCraft train. But we’re hoping it’s not just that. Developed by a small team at Trion Worlds, Trove has this blocky look that will certainly divide players. But there’s an open-ended voxel adventure beyond that, where players are capable of building their worlds and embark in quests filled with enemies and danger. With procedurally generated dungeons, world bosses and user-created content that includes weapons, creatures and environments, Trove is looking like it took a bit too much inspiration from MineCraft. How will it fare against the similar but less blocky Landmark and Fortnite? Only time will tell.
