News:
BattleCry is new 32-player battle action game
Battlecry Studios just announced a team-based online action game called… BattleCry. Who would have guessed, hm? Battlecry Studios is a Bethesda studio so they should have the resources to make something special out of BattleCry. Apparently, they’re doing exactly that, since BattleCry’s art style is directed by the talented Viktor Antonov, of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored fame. The highly-stylized environments and characters seem to mix a cartoon look like the one from Team Fortress 2 with something a bit more realistic. The result is, quite frankly, really good. BattleCry is a brutal free-to-play game with up to 32-player battles and dynamic movement. It is said to privilege skill and it’s shaping up to be quite bloody, with decapitations included. Fun stuff. The beta is planned for 2015 on PC and so far there are only a handful of screenshots.
First Tera 2 artwork revealed
The first artwork of the highly anticipated Tera sequel was just spotted. What do you say we have a look at it? The artwork was revealed during the Nexon Developers Conference 2014 and shows a man in a leather jacket with a shield in one arm and a mace in his hand. While the man’s image does look modern, the weapons are decidedly old-fashioned and an old castle is visible in the background. So, what can we make of this first Tera 2 artwork? Is it set in middle-age, in a modern period or in a completely weird era?
Arena of Fate is Crytek's upcoming MOBA game
Crytek is joining the MOBA war with Arena of Fate, a game where for some reason the Little Red Riding Hood kicks some Jack the Ripper butt. Yeah. Arena of Fate is an action-packed online multiplayer game, as Crytek described it, featuring 5v5 battles with a mix of historical and fantasy characters. So you can get to play with Frankenstein, Little Red Riding Hood, Joan of Arc, Robin Hood, Jack the Ripper, Baron Münchhausen and more. Sounds like a really odd mix to us. Arena of Fate runs on the CryEngine and is in development at Crytek Black Sea for PC and consoles. The early access beta is expected this summer.
Onigiri enters open beta on June 5
Onigiri is a free anime MMORPG that has been in alpha for quite a while and is finally entering beta soon. Onigiri is entering closed beta on June 5 and apparently it’s that special kind of open closed beta where you don’t need a key to enter, but don’t take our word for granted. Anime fans are bound to enjoy this action MMORPG but if you want to learn more about it, we made a first look several months ago.
‘Find the Game’ Quiz
This week’s quiz is a side-scrolling brawler that is fast-paced and probably converted a few Dungeon Fighter fans. It’s a fairly recent game with some cool and colorful visuals. The first one to write the answer in the comments (here or on our YouTube channel) will see his or her name featured in the next Free to Play Unlimited episode.
Most Wanted: MapleStory 2
It took a few teaser trailers, but MapleStory 2 has finally shown itself to the world and most players, like us, found it absolutely awesome. NSquare is taking the original’s side-scrolling perspective to an isometric view, offering a whole new 3D world with a lot of blocks. It’s like MineCraft invaded MapleStory and the result was a chibi baby with Diablo and Mario Party gameplay. We know it’s a lot of references, but that’s just how the gameplay trailer feels to us. So we have a blocky world with destructible elements, plenty of mini-games and hopefully there will also be a building aspect to it, to round things up perfectly. There’s so much potential in this game that we’re hoping it turns out as an amazing sandbox MMORPG. MapleStory 2 enters closed beta in Korea later this year and while a worldwide release is yet to be announced, we’re pretty confident that Nexon is planning just that.
