News:
Peria Chronicles obstacles surpassed, development continues
Great news, everyone! Peria Chronicles isn’t dead! Well, it’s not in great shape either, but it looks like the hardest times are a thing of the past. In the first update in ages, developer Thingsoft finally said something about the game, stating that the team had this enormous challenge and unbelievable objective, which was building the core architecture of the game. This is finally done and will allow players to build their own towns with the respective economic and social systems, create their own quests and even design their own user interface. Sounds like a handful to us too. With this obstacle out of the way, development continues on Peria Chronicles and we should be able to play it in 2070, if we’re lucky.
Revelation Online PvE trailer talks bosses, raids and dungeons
With the business model uncertainty out of the way, we may now give Revelation the attention it deserves. For example, with this new PvE trailer. A new trailer for the martial arts MMORPG Revelation Online focus on PvE, in particular the solo dungeons, raids and open world bosses. As usual, the higher the difficulty level, the bigger the rewards. You may even get the honor of fighting six huge open world bosses who roam the land, with the reward being some epic loot. Revelation Online enters closed beta this fall and the Skyforge publisher has recently confirmed that it will be free-to-play.
Paragon: new character Lt. Belica shoots justice in the arena
Epic Games’ MOBA Paragon is getting a new hero, and she’s about to shoot some justice your way. Lt. Belica is a Burst Caster and she specializes in zoning enemy heroes and mana control. Her abilities look awesome, including this one where she uses something that looks like a sword from Halo or Mass Effect. All Paragon heroes are free, so you can already play Belica starting September 13.
Airship combat game Pirates: Allods Online is coming west as Cloud Pirates
If you’re a fan of aerial combat games such as Dreadnought or Fractured Space, then keep an eye out for the upcoming Cloud Pirates. Recently revealed in Russia as Pirates: Allods Online, a spin-off from the popular but quite old fantasy MMORPG, this game was renamed Cloud Pirates for its upcoming western release. This is an action online multiplayer game featuring 10v10 battles and the mandatory visual options and weapon upgrades – if you still have trouble seeing it, picture a cartoony World of Warships with flying ships and you should get the idea. Sign-ups are already open at the official website.
EVE Online is getting a free-to-play mode in November
EVE Online, CCP’s massive space simulation MMO is finally going free-to-play in November 2016. But there’s something you should know about it. CCP is technically dividing the game into two clone states: alpha and omega. Omega is just the same as it is currently, with all EVE Online players who pay a monthly subscription having access to their progress and the full game. The alpha clone state, however, is the one for players who want to play EVE for free, but this has some limitations, such as the skill set. Players will be able to switch between alpha and omega states whenever they want to – it’s just a matter of paying the subscription or not.
‘Find the Game’ Quiz
If you know your sci-fi MMOs, you should be really close to finding out which game we’re going to talk about. This game launched recently and it’s based on the novels of a popular author. The first one to write the answer in the comments will see his name featured in the next Free to Play Unlimited episode.
Most Wanted: MU Legend
Webzen’s biggest bet for this year and the next one is MU Legend, the follow-up to the classic MMORPG MU Online. MU Legend is in development for quite some years – in fact, since 2009 or so. This game is an isometric hack and slash online RPG that runs on the Unreal Engine 3 and is getting some acclaim from players since it entered Korean open beta. With four classes at launch and a gameplay that feels really fast-paced and not at all grindy, MU Legend is shaping up to be one of the finest disciples of the Diablo school. The first global closed beta is planned for fall 2016, so it won’t be long before we get to try it out.
